I loved the book. A lot of people dont like the end but V is my fav brother so i may just be bias. I didn't mind how it ended. It was sweet! Just wish there would have been more info on how the couple were getting along in the end.

I am new to the BDB series. I started with Wrath's story 2 weeks ago and have spent all my free time since then devouring each story. After reading some of the reviews for Lover Unbound, I was not looking forward to V's story. The subject matter (S&M, bondage, abuse) did not appeal to me, nor did the intense, raw emotion that went with these subjects. I went into it thinking it was a necessary evil; something I had to get through so I could move on with the story. WOW! Was I ever surprised. LU is now my favorite of the series. Yes, it is raw, intense, and gut wrenching at times. But it turns V into a three dimensional richly textured character, rather than a caricature of someone outside of the mainstream. My heart broke while reading about his life in the warrior camp. I admired his ability to survive. And I cheered when he allowed himself to trust and feel emotion again. I found myself laughing at some of the conversations between V and the Scribe Virgin. And it touched my heart how he came to terms with her at the end. The romance between him and Jane might have been a bit rushed as noted by other reviewers, but that was a result of the need to build up some of the secondary characters who will be prominent in future books. I found the ending between Jane and V satisfying. With her being human, there weren't too many options for a happily ever after. And like everything else in V's life, it wasn't "mainstream". But the story/relationship that I loved the most was the one between V and Butch (and Marissa to an extent). Many in Butch's situation would feel uncomfortable and it would interfere with the friendship. Butch not only accepted V for who he was, but he refused to allow either one of their natures or feelings drive a wedge between the friendship. His total acceptance of V allowed V to accept himself. Rather than pull away from V, Butch (and Marissa) stood firm which eventually strengthened the bond of friendship. They made the Pit their home. And Marissa played a major role in V's recovery from surgery which was a truly selfless act not only by her, but by Butch as well. I believe that my reaction to this book parallels the lesson of V's story; Have the courage to step outside of your comfort zone and you may be surprised at the results.

After reading the first few books and impatiently awaiting the arrival of this one I took a gander at some online reviews. I was disappointed and a little worried about how many bad reviews this book received. I was nervous to read it because I loved all the other books in the series so much. In my opinion, this is the best book in the series so far. And I really didn't think anything could have gotten better than Zsadist's story. What I liked very best about this book was the way the story flows. In all the other books when it would be a chapter specifically about the Lessers and what they were doing.. I found myself rushing through to get to the Brother's story as quick as possible. This book had just enough Lesser in it :) I absolutely love the way she wrote this one and hope the rest are written the same way! The whole time I was reading I was waiting for an awful turn in the story because of the bad reviews I read. Not a chance, it just got better and better, this book is phenomenal! And now I find myself in love with yet another Brotherhood member!

I would first like to say I thought as I read through the first 400 pages of this book it was the best of the 5 so far. It was not the same repetitive love story that was previously done. I liked the fact that she took this tough guy/sadistic character named Vichous and exposed his true emotions. I also liked all the innovative twists and turns to this story. But after reading the last 100 pages, I too was left a little baffled on how the book got to where it ended. I'm not saying it ended awful, but it just left me wondering how would that really work and I'm curious to see if it will still play out in the next book. I think a previous review said it best this book was "Both Amazing and Frustrating"

Lover Unbound - Vampire world
5 Stars
This is Book 5 of the Black Dagger Brotherhood who are the guardians of the vampire race. In this book, we are told the story of Vishous. He is the brother with a gift of reading other people's thoughts and has dreams of future events. Vishous is on a crash course with his own destiny and finds that his gift has somehow mysteriously disappeared. JR Ward gives the reader an insight to his upbringing which explains who he has become. While each of these books are written so that you can start anywhere in the series, do yourself a favor and start with the first of the series and move through them chronologically-- it's even better!
