Product Description
The final story in the now cult favorite Vampire Huntress series.
The entire Neteru Guardian team is on the run, having now been labeled as America's most-wanted terrorists following the gruesome demon battle that felled the Washington Monument and crashed the front doors of the White House. The Anti-Christ is positioned for emergence, the powers of darkness have released the pale horse of the apocalypse, and half the Neteru team is pregnant. Plagues from hell that ravage the country are being cited as stemming from bio-terrorism. The nation is under martial law. The Neterus and their team are underground. If things weren't bad enough the Dark Realm breaks the sixth Biblical seal, which plunges the world into perpetual darkness…and irrevocably into the Armageddon.

The best defense is a great offense... Wait a minute. Armageddon has begun, Level Seven has come "topside," toppled the Washington Monument, knocked on the front door of the White House with it, released the pale horse of the Apocalypse, and has the Neteru team labeled as the world's most wanted bio-terrorists. Pestilence, death, destruction, mayhem rule the day and night. The safest thing to do is stay under the radar. Right? Wrong. This is the Neteru team. Offense? Out of funds and on the run with babies on the way, our guardians take the battle to the darkside despite their losses, reunite with members, and make new friends to challenge the Unnamed One's greatest demon.
The Thirteenth is the twelfth and final story in L. A. Banks' Vampire Huntress Legends series. I know it's fiction (and I must admit that I was hooked from the moment I saw the Sankofa tattooed at the base of Damali's spine on the cover of Minion), but one look at CNN or FOX might cause you to question whether L. A. knows something most world leaders do not. This series has been an artful weaving of current events, world mythology, and impeccable research. The diversity, a thing to be celebrated and cherished. Let's be clear. My triskaidekaphobia was because the series was ending, not the emotional rollercoaster Banks delivered as the team took it to the streets in Jerusalem, dodging daywalkers and zombies. Having become personally attached to every member of the team, I tried unsuccessfully to read slowly, but the fast-paced action was right out of a Roland Emmerich or Jerry Bruckheimer film. Fallon Nuit, Sebastian, Lilith, and Vlad Dracula turn up the heat on the team once they realize Damali is pregnant. Seeking to exploit this perceived weakness, the One Who Shall Remain Nameless, breaks the sixth seal. Ride or die, the Neteru team, tried by the fire, comes out pure gold with the help from the council of Neteru Kings and Queens and Warrior angels. When the dust clears, Banks leaves it to Yaya to bring peace to the steadfast, but mystified adults (and I was one of them), making the words of Isaiah 11:6 ring clear: "and a little child shall lead them."

The End?
5 Stars
Having read The Thirteenth twice, I find myself wanting more - more books from this series and having said that I'd much rather that the series ended on a high note, which it did, for me. I like each of the characters in different ways and some I downright dislike, intensely - Lilith being a case in point. Having read all the books in this series I am delighted to say that each book has held my attention from beginning to end and The Thirteenth is no exception, much as I didn't want to finish the book (ending a series is always hard for me) and found myself continually turning pages to find out what happened next! In previous books my heart has bled for Yolando (Yonnie) but I was cheering when both he and Carlos cornered Nuit and gave him his just desserts. I could write something in a similar vein for each of the characters having watched them grow, mature and improve from Minion but that would take far too long. Suffice to say that Ms Banks has written a spell binding series with an excellent ending and left her readers with their tongues hanging out, panting for more!

Same old same old

As usual Carlos tips evil off because of his connection to them. Damili does no wrong in any of their eyes. And as usual it ends the same way except for in The Shadows. All of them end of pregant omg come on now. This book just seems rushed to me. I loved some of the earlier ones better.

The Last, But Never the Least!

The Thirteenth. Let's just start with WOW!! In this final installment of the VHL series, follow the Neteru Guardian Team as they face off in the biggest battle they've yet faced. The Thirteenth is Lucifer's favorite demon, set free to wreak havoc on what's left of mankind and do what no one else from the dark side has been able to do--destroy the Neteru Guardian team.
What's left of the Covenant will assist in the battle, of course, but what's coming after the Guardian Team may be even too much for them. Reinforcements are needed--big time!
The Neteru Guardian team is poised on the precipice between unfathomable loss and the greatest of joys. Will the team be able to get to the Weinsteins in time? What about little Ayana and Delores? Will the pregnant Guardians be able to deliver their children safely?
This entire series has been one roller coaster ride after another. It's sad to know that it's come to an end--or has it?? Okay, it may be the end of this specific series, but readers will be ecstatic to know that the story will live on. You'll have to stay tuned.....

bittersweet ending
5 Stars
Banks outdoes herself in this final installment of the vampire huntress legend series. She is a master linguist, creating a world of mythical creatures, combining world religions, social and cultural communities. And the sex scenes are HOT. I have loved each book since the start and have found it more and more hard to leave their world at the end of each book. The only good thing about this series ending is that there will be a new series based on the same world with new main characters to love.
The ultimate evil has taken over the White House and dried up all of the teams resources causing them to scramble their way back on top. With nothing but their faith and love keeping them righteous, the battles they fight and the loved ones they lay to rest has the whole team reeling as they have more at risk than ever before on the line.
