Volume 1 - Fatal Infatuation:
Felicity is quiet, shy and prone to self doubt. Going away to college is an opportunity to mature into a confident young woman; but her new beginning turns out to be more of an adventure than she bargained for when she finds that her new school is plagued not by bullies, but vampires!
Cain is a man who displays quiet confidence and inner strength even as he struggles to overcome the sins of his past. Centuries ago he was reborn as a creature of the night - a vampire. Surprisingly he found that in losing his life he gained his faith and a purpose. His mission: find the hostile vampires who have settled in this small college town, and educate them to live in peace with humans. Their leader, Sindy, is a wicked temptress who has and set her sights on Felicity’s new friend Ben, and will be difficult to control; but after meeting Felicity his most difficult task lies in controlling himself.

Volume 2 - Lost Reflections:
Felicity has helped her friends to escape Sindy and her evil coven, but cannot divine the motives of Cain, the vampire who captured first her gratitude and then her heart. She finds the historical account of his past enthralling and frightening. Now she must decide whether he really is the gentle and sincere man that he seems, in desperate need of love and understanding in his fight against his own vampire nature, or if his thirst for her blood is a driving force too strong for their love to conquer.
It’s difficult to contemplate such questions while under the attack of an evil vampire coven and their zombie slaves. How will Felicity ever truly know if the addictive venom in Cain’s kiss is clouding the judgment of her mind? Her heart has already been lost to him; will she lose her life as well?

Volume 3 - Evolving Ecstasy:
The relationship between Cain and Felicity has crested to a peak that leaves them unsure whether to step back for safety or jump into a future united in death. Felicity is unlike any human Cain has known before. She treats him as an equal, a man worthy of friendship, respect and even love. She embodies qualities of gentleness and loving trust that he has never found among his own kind. This makes her far more desirable to him than any creature of darkness could ever be. Is her trust in him only the foolishness of a young girl in love, unjustified?
Cain is all too conscious of the fact that the venom of his bite would give him a connection to her unequaled by any other and protect her from hostile vampires, but it would give him a measure of psychic control over her as well. He could make Felicity into a vampire, to accompany him in his quest to help others and abate his loneliness. But is his desire for companionship worth the loss of her life?

Great new series!
5 Stars
I'm not someone who normally reviews things, but this series was so good that I just have to. Especially to support an up-and-coming author. After reading the Twilight series, I was looking for something with a similar feel. I found it in these books. I don't know how she does it, but the author is really able to make you feel for the characters. I think she does especially well in handling the whole "in between teenager and adult" area that all young adults face. I was really able to lose myself in these books. I'm really looking forward to the rest in the series. I think I read somewhere that there are going to be 3 sets of 3 books each, all involving the same characters.
I also agree with another poster about the spelling and grammar. If these had been published by a large publishing house, it would have gotten the proper editing before release. However, once absorbed, I was able to look over these mistakes and really enjoy the books.
Thank you! I'm looking forward to more!

Can't wait for the 4th Volume

I just finished reading this three volume set yesterday. Yes, I will admit to grammar and repeat language patterns, but the STORY! Look beyond the silly stuff and lose yourself in the story, you will not be disappointed if you are like me...mid 30's, full time working mom who loves to lose her free time to a good book and I am in love with vampires. I love Twilight, Sookie Stackhouse, Night Huntress (oh Cat and Bones!), Vampire Academy and The House of Night Series. Almost Human holds its own easy in the top three of this list (But please don't make me pick). More adult content than Twilight and hopefully this isn't a spoiler for anyone (but you have been warned), the ending broke my heart in so many ways. Do not hesitate to download this series if you love vampires! Honestly, I just started reading this again, which I never do, because going to something else just doesn't seem like it will compare.

So incredibly wishy-washy...

I purchased this trilogy for my iPod Kindle application (great feature, by the way) because I'd read some blogs indicating that fans of the Twilight series would also enjoy these stories.
Maybe because of the Twilight comparison I went into it thinking that I would be in for another epic romance of the vampire persuasion? Unfortunately, what I got was a weird sort of "trainwreck" experience... I wasn't particularly enjoying myself while I was reading, but I couldn't put it down either.
Here are the main issues I had with the stories:
1. Cain, our vampire hero, spends half of his sections going through an exhausting interior monologue that just seems to repeat itself... over and over... and over.
2. In order to avoid blatant spoilers, I'll just ask this question regarding my second concern and then let you draw your own conclusions: If a character feels undying love for one person, then how can you logically explain this same character professing that same love for another within a half chapter?
Overall, I just feel like this trilogy was a contradiction in terms. Yet, as I mentioned before, I couldn't tear myself away from it. And, most likely since the ending was a bit of a cliff hanger, I'm sure I'll get sucked into the 4th installment when it's released as well.
I'm still not sure whether or not I'm disappointed by that or excited to see what happens next. Maybe the indecision within this story rubbed off on me along the way?
