A Great Read

I was pulled in to this novel from the moment I began reading. As a teacher and an adult reader of YA fiction, I'm always looking for books to share with my students. This book was fast paced and has a great blend of action and romance. I think some parts were predictable, especially for an avid reader of vampire/supernatural stories, but that did not distract from the plot at all. I found myself invested in the characters and wanting to know how their story would unfold. I love that Bianca is a strong female character, not just a princess sitting around waiting for her Prince Charming. I read the book in one sitting because I couldn't put it down . . . can't wait to read Stargazer!

I really like this book. I bought it two days ago and can't put it down. I'm currently on chapter 11 and I can't wait to take my lunch break so that I can read more. There is romance and mystery in this book and I really feel that if you like Twilight you will like this novel. I just finished the first book of the Sookie Stackhouse series and I didn't like ANY of the characters beyond Sookie herself. In Evernight I like Bianca, Lucas, and Balthazar. I recommend this book and I plan to pass it along to friends.

Evernight was a very good book there were lots of surprises and shocking revelations. I loved the book more than twilight. Evernight is fast-paced but interesting. It has action, romance, and mystery. It will leave you wanting more.

NO SPOILERS: Bianca is a charecter any teenager could relate to. I truly did like it, and I'm picky when it comes to books. It held my attention, but it wasn't as good as Twilight

Entertaining Guilty Pleasure

I really enjoyed the first half of Evernight. I sympathized with Bianca and had a bit of a crush on Lucas. I thought Vic was absolutely hilarious and Balthazar was simply dreamy. But then I discovered that insane plot twist. It was just nonsensical. Why in the world would Bianca not think she was going to be a vampire when she drank blood for crying out loud? The twist would have been fantastic if her parents hadn't told her that it would happen and it was just as much of surprise to her as it was to the readers. So I went from sympathizing with the heroine to thinking she was dumber than a box of rocks that deserved her fate and isolation. Ignorance will destroy the world, lock her up! With that said, I was in too deep by the time the twist presented itself, and I had to know what happened to the rest of the gang. I still enjoyed the story as long as I didn't look too hard at the flaws in it. Great guilty pleasure read.
